Building Positive Mental Health

Here are some messages that can be used to help build positive mental health:

  • It’s okay to talk about mental health and ask for help
  • It’s important to learn positive ways to manage stress/anxiety/sadness, and to practice strategies (deep breathing)
  • Anxiety/worry is normal and it helps protect us from danger by getting our body ready to face something that is threatening. This comes with physical feelings (heart pounding, breathing quickly, tense muscles, headaches, stomach aches); this is our body getting ready for a challenge: to either fight the threat, flee from the threat, freeze
  • We don’t need to be afraid of the physical feelings, instead we can view them as the energy/focus we need to conquer obstacles
